Primary Education

There are numerous primary schools within a 15km radius of Gort, catering for children in the age group 4 years to thirteen years academic excellence allied to student development in sport and the arts are a feature of the schools.

Post Primary/High Schools

There is two main secondary schools for people from the area, Gort Community School in the town of Gort and Seamount College in Kinvara.

The Gort Community School (Co-Ed) was opened in 1995 and was an amalgamation of three second level schools in the town. There are at present 700 Students and 50 Teachers in the school. The school has a exceptional academic record with 80% of its students continuing on to third level education.

Third Level Education

Participation in third level education in the region is high. Each year on average 200 students complete second level education in the area and of these over 80% continue on to do further courses or training schemes.
